Cul-de-sac

"Drowning with the dusk of its destiny
a ray breaks the monotone of tick tock.
You are close, says a whisper
He hits a mirage, the devil laughs.
Hiding that dry tear that never fall, smiling
He dusts himself up again, witnessing
the test of time he still stands tall.
For no good deed goes unpunished, he told me
I too wait for that another ray to rekindle the dew inside."
- 'Raw Rasin'

Meaning/metaphors:
In an uneventful time, the protagonist who has hit a dead end, sees some hope (ray) to finally get what he desires. However on approaching, it turns out to be a fallacy (mirage). Setup by someone who finds pleasure in seeing others in pain (the devil).  The protagonist is not taken aback as -although hopeful, somewhere inside he knew the ray was destined to fail. Having done no wrong, he proceeds with hope, despite all the odds. And I (anyone who witnessed his journey or illeism by protagonist himself) gets my strength from him
